cRPG is a modification for Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. It adds persistent multiplayer character stats, hundreds of unique items, an online campaign, clans, duel ladder, a co-op game mode and a few more things.
Player progression. Starting to play as an unknown character, you will gradually find allies and opponents in this world. However, each hero now has a real player behind it, not a scripted AI. Unique perks specially designed for multiplayer, as well as a redesigned experience bar for each skill.

Campaign map battles opening multiplayer battle instances would be so simple, though, that it'd nearly be within the realm of mods. I imagine the only reason no one bothered to make that is because there's no good and easy way to mod the game to let other players watch what you're doing on the map between battles. #2.
